While I usually pack a swimsuit wherever I go in the hope that I might come across a swimming pool, sauna or spa, I think I have only taken exercise gear on holiday once. I am one of those people that can laze by the pool or beach indefinitely. I don't get restless. I don't think I should be out and about sightseeing. And I never ever really consider exercising. Exercise gear - I'm talking a t-shirt, shorts and sports bra for running along with socks and shoes - tends to take up too much space in my suitcase so it gets left behind.
Rather randomly however I did pack an exercise hula hoop when I went to visit MP in Switzerland last year. But that was because I had been doing it for about a week and had been building up the bruises that I had read take a week to conquer. I also wanted to see if she could do it!
This year though, I think I will take my running gear to New Zealand. And I might actually use it when I get there.
Auckland is one of those cities where people will go to the gym in the morning and then just head out for coffee or to the shops still in their exercise clothes. You never really get that here in London. Luckily my mum recently sent me a really nice new top from Lululemon.
Here is a round up of some other exercise gear that wouldn't look so bad for hanging out in all day.
This Nike Pro Arctic Monarch Sports Bra looks nice enough that you would have no qualms about taking off your upper layers if you worked up too much of a sweat.
These Dial Capri Leggings in black are by luxury athletic wear brand Lucas Hugh.
This grey and pink long-sleeved Running Top is by H&M.
This Studio Performance Climate Stretch Tank is by Adidas by Stella McCartney.
Do you take exercise gear on holiday? Do you use it when you get there? I'll let you know how I get on.
