Desert Island Beauty Pick - Lip Balm

Happy New Year everyone! I hope you had a great break over the Christmas period and are all rearing to go for 2014! I had my in laws visiting for just over a week and they only just left yesterday so it has been pretty manic with not much time to stop or relax. From the 24th to 26th December I probably spent about 70% of my time in the kitchen! We then drove over to Meribel for 2.5 days of full on skiing, came back for a NYE party at a neighbour's place, spent the 1st mostly on the sofa but I'm now back to my normal self with a clear space (as clear as can be with a 2 year old running around!) and time to think about my plan and goals for the new year.

One of these is definitely to increase readership of our blog so any thoughts / comments would be greatly appreciated!

I thought a fun series to run for a while would be "Desert Island Beauty Picks". Coming near the top of my list is a lip balm. For years I have been using Smith's Rosebud Salve. It's an all purpose salve so can also be used on dry skin, minor burns, cuts or grazes. The balm is a gorgeous pale pink colour that has a subtle rose scent and one slick of this leaves your lips feeling baby soft.

A similar product is the classic Vaseline. I always have a pot of the original in my flight bag. The latest limited edition is Paint The Town which has a spiced berry flavour and a light red tint.
Maybelline's popular Baby Lips launched in the UK late last year after being very successful initally in Japan and then the US. I recently tried out Pink Punch and wasn't expecting it to be such a bright pink on the lips! It does have a yummy taste though and left my lips feeling hydrated for quite a while.  A fun lip balm and only £2.99.

I'd love to hear what your desert island beauty items are! Please let us know! MP
