Weekend Dinners

When I first moved to Switzerland I was horrified to learn that all shops close on Sunday. I'm used to it now but it does mean you have to plan your weekend meals in advance. Also I hate going to the supermarkets on Saturday as they're really busy (everyone cramming in their shopping before Sunday) so I'd rather think about what I want for the weekend and shop on Friday.

Every now and then I'll research specific recipes that I want to make but generally I just end up getting a selection of meat and vegetables and whip up whatever comes to mind!

This weekend I'm going to try a couple of new things. One of these is a Chicken Pot Pie. I've made many chicken pies before but I usually freestyle. A chicken pot pie includes lots of things I know my girls will like. I'm going to use a BBC Good Food recipe (image below) although I'm undecided as to whether I use short crust or puff pastry?

 
The other thing I'm going to make (which is something that I've always wanted to try) is Spaghetti alle Vongole.

 
Most of the recipes I've looked at are similar although some include cherry tomatoes but I think I'll stick to the original for my first try.
