Traditional Bach

The ultimate goal for AD and I in a few years time is to buy a beach house. In New Zealand a beach house is called a bach, derived from the term bachelor pad. Traditionally they are unassuming, laid-back structures which fit into the natural surroundings.  A great example below:

I was recently looking through some baches and I came across this great example of a new build in Kapiti Island, near Wellington in New Zealand which manages to retain the charm of an authentic bach.

A simple and practical kitchen and dining area which lead out onto a deck and lawn with an amazing view:

The bathroom opens directly to the outdoors enabling an easy post beach shower.

This is definitely a bach I could see myself spending a lot of time relaxing at! For more pictures click here. All images via dwell.com.  MP
