I read in the Telegraph the other day that head scarves are set to become a micro-trend this winter, so perhaps I might give this look a try as I often like to wear a head scarf in summer.
With head scarves I think you should be aiming to capture the classic Hollywood glamour of the driving scarf as worn best by Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly (or more recently by Susan Sarandon in Thelma and Louise, and the girl (Joy) who Don Draper takes off to Palm Springs with in Mad Men season two episode 'The Jet Set'). You are trying to avoid looking like you are about to go and clean some houses.
Luckily Hermes have created a free iTunes app that shows you various ways to Tie a Silk Knot.
What do you think? Summer or winter - are headscarves something that you have worn before or would like to try? Or do you think they are best left to the Queen?
Karlie Kloss shows a more elaborate way to wear a head scarf in the image above from an Hermes ad from 2010. The celebrity that best captures the summer head scarf look is probably Nicole Richie who wears them in a simple luxe-boho style, usually paired with oversized sunglasses.
I quite like this simple, modern look below as modelled by Katie Fogarty for Vogue Australia back in December 2011 as well.
