Snack Plates

For me, nothing beats starting the weekend with a nice glass of wine and some delicious snacks. Even if I am home alone I like to give the house a quick tidy, light some candles and then sit down with a drink and something to nibble on.

In summer this might typically be a glass of Prosecco with a small bowl of salted crisps and some anchovy stuffed olives.

Tonight, it was a glass of red wine and some bread with salami, cheese and gherkins.

The best snacks are those that you share with friends. I am constantly looking for new foods to try out as snacks and new ways to present them. As always, Pinterest is a great source of inspiration. As I browsed through hundreds of different pinned images today I was thinking that I can't wait for my next get-together with my best friends. As we are all based in different countries, we only see each other on average a couple of times each year. When we are together, wherever we happen to be we usually head to a market in the day to get supplies and then sit back, relax and catch up over great food and wine in the evening.

Today I was loving these simple displays where you know that the quality of the ingredients means you don't need to add or improve on anything.

I think I am going to head down to Borough Market in the morning to see what goodies I can find. I'll let you know how I get on.
